Know God
Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.
Jeremiah 9.23-24
Of all the goals people dedicate themselves to pursuing, what pursuit could be higher than attempting to understand the Creator of the universe? God has promised to draw near to us if we draw near to Him, so we make this the defining purpose of our lives. Knowing God is at the core of everything we do as a church, and our mission is to encourage each other as we seek to understand Him together.
Revere His Word
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3.16-17
We refuse to settle for any incomplete or secondhand understanding of who God is; therefore, we refuse to settle for any source of information other than God’s word. We believe that the Bible is God’s direct message to us, and as such, it is sufficient for us to understand and know Him. With careful study, meditation, and prayer, we can not only know God, but we can better understand ourselves, and be pleasing to the Almighty!
Be a Light
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 5.14-16
Coming to know God and His Son Jesus through the power of His word is a transformative, life-giving experience that brings eternal hope, meaning, and purpose into our lives. What could be a more important message to share with our family, friends, or neighbors? So, we strive to be God’s light in the world by faithfully applying God’s teachings while truthfully and humbly sharing God’s word at every opportunity, so that we can all come to give glory to our God in heaven!
